Every year, the Structural Engineers Association of Southern California (SEAOSC) hosts a gingerbread house challenge, where members must build the most unique and aesthetically-pleasing gingerbread house. Cool, right? Out of all of the 2023 entries, I'd say my two favorites would have to be The Burrow and Hogwarts Castle. Hogwarts is a pretty basic choice, I mean, I just like it 'cause it's a big castle, but the Burrow is really interesting- multiple stories built on candy-cane stilts that look like they'll collapse at any moment, but, y'know, won't.
Now, if I had to build a "gingerbread" house, I'd probably try for the Pyramid(s) of Giza- I'd want to build it out of like, rice crispies or something, but that may not qualify it as a gingerbread house at that point. Maybe coat it in gingerbread plates and white frosting glaze to similate the marble that coated the pyramid in its prime? I dunno.
I'm mostly just looking forward to winter break. Finals week is starting to get to me.
